A note from Shawn Wiesner: AOK (Acts of Kindness) It’s AOK to be kind!

Acts of Kindness (AOK) is defined, as  a selfless act performed by a person or persons wishing to either assist or cheer up an individual. There will generally be no reason other than to make people smile or be happier.

In order to initiate great impact it takes ONE to do so, and so often we look at certain circumstances and say “as one, what can we really do?”.

Well ONE person did, and  made this statement with commitment, “the power of one leads to the power of many”.

An attitude with an attachment to, “what can I do to make a difference?”.  That one person who I honor for creating this waterfall of greatness is Natalie Peace.

This impact of greatness that has occurred and continues to occur in our community is something we are all thankful to you for initiating.  I also know because of this project of Acts of Kindness initiated through Booster Juice’s owner Natalie,  that these gestures have spread to places all over the world creating impact where we thought could never occur.

In the beginning, Natalie put it out as a challenge for 22 days and the cool thing is it is still going on far past the initial number of days we committed to originally.

Way to go Kamloops and all those outside our community that continue to share.  You are all AOK in my books!!!!

Part of my experience in AOK was doing small daily actions to make a difference.  As Robin Sharma says so eloquently “Small daily actions are far better than the noblest of intentions.” And that’s exactly what I committed to doing.

It started by picking up two pieces of garbage in the parking lot on my way back to my car after taking the 22 day challenge.

Then I paid for a hotdog at the hotdog stand and told the gentleman to give it to the next child that arrived.

I visited a friend that I hadn’t seen in awhile.

I smiled while driving regardless of what people though I was on.

Shared a cheery “good morning” to passerby’s that I saw on my walk.

Guided a puppy away from road.  The little guy was obviously lost.

Held the door for an elderly gentleman.

And phoned my parents and told them how much I love and appreciate them.

I also treat myself with acts of kindness by eating healthy, getting to bed earlier and so on, as I know, if I am happy and healthy I can continue sharing kindness to others which I continue to commit to forever.

Thank you Natalie, and thank you to all the Booster Juice employees that followed through with your commitment to make a difference!!!!

Kamloops and the world love you for it!!

Make Today A Great One!!!
